I'm Back On Blogger!

Hello Friends!

After a year and a half on WordPress, I'm happy to announce that I'm back on Blogger. I hated found WordPress to be a real challenge. Weekly code errors, hacking attempts galore, the inability to figure out how to fix ANYTHING....it was terribly frustrating. Not to mention that I often didn't see comments due to the inordinate amount of spam.

And to be honest, I missed a lot of my Blogger friends. I know that most of you didn't get updates of my posts because Blogger's reading list doesn't recognize websites. And the amount of work involved to keep that site up prevented me the time I used to have to visit your blogs. No more of that!

So, I've decided to give up the website. Not just because of the difficulty in using it; the cost of webhosting is outrageous. And to be honest...I don't want to be a "tech" type of gal. I'm a blogger at heart, not a webmaster, ick. 😊

I hope you've all been well! Many of you who followed me over to WordPress are aware that I am now living a single life with my 5 dogs and 1 cat (pictured above). Aren't they good??? They were patiently waiting for a taste of my homemade cheese while I clicked this photo!

Since Alex (my late husband) passed away last spring, life has been tough. But life does go on whether we're up to it or not, so I choose to move forward, heal and thrive as a solo gal.

For those interested, Thursday Art and Dinner Date will restart on Thursday October 9th with the prompt being "Fire". Spread the word please!!

Here is a list of the remaining prompts for 2025.

Love to everyone!

Rain ♥

  1. Rain, welcome back! I'm sorry WordPress was so frustrating, but very glad you're back on Blogger (not that it doesn't have it's own frustrations, lol). I gave up my own website awhile back because of the cost. Best of all we can move forward with you, be there for you, support you. I still feel a lot of sadness for you when I think of Alex, but happy to see you have such a loving crew on your homefront. How did you ever get them to pose so nicely? :)

    1. Leigh you're so sweet thank you ♥...to answer your question: How did you ever get them to pose so nicely? It's the answer to most of life's problems: CHEESE. LOL...I am cheese making again and I had a piece of Camembert and they all just sat and stared lol...

    1. Kathyinozarks. I am a long time blogger and have been a full time caretaker to my husband for over four years. Feel free to contact me....dianakos1@gmail.com. Hope it is OK, Rain, to do this. If you have an email for Kathy I would reach out to her if she doesn't see this. Thanks.

    2. Kathy thank you! ♥ WordPress isn't for bloggers that's for sure. You're right, there is no support. I basically had to do internet searches to figure out how to do everything and it got too tiring. I do hope you and your hubby are doing as best as you can. Hugs. ♥

    3. Diana, I will send an email over to Kathy to send her your comment in case she hasn't read it! ♥

  7. I'm so happy you're back, Rain! That's too bad Wordpress didn't work out for you. I have spam issues but most, if not all, gets filtered nicely and I don't have to deal with it. We're fixing to take vacation time tomorrow after DH gets off work. No big trips away this time, just sticking to our area. The break in routine will do us good, though. I have my TAD posts scheduled which includes a link up. You're welcome to borrow it or use your own. Now that you're back at the helm, I will not put one up. Have a good day, dearie! xo

    1. Cathy! So nice to see you're keeping up with TAD! WordPress...it just became overly complicated for me. I think due to the added stress of the last half year, I just couldn't deal with the issues I was able to figure out before. Happy Staycation! ♥

  8. I'm glad to see you back, Rain. I know these months have been terribly challenging and a time of such readjustment. I hope returning to this blog will be a warm and enriching time for you. Will you be setting up a "follow by mail" or google friend follow widget so we can easily find each new post? (In your own time, of course.) The animals look wonderful.

    1. Hi Jeanie, thanks for your comment. ♥ I know that returning to Blogger will feel more comfortable for me than the static WordPress website! No warmth there. Blogger doesn't have the "follow by email" gadget anymore, they removed it a few years back. But I have the "Followers" gadget on my home page where you can subscribe to follow!

  13. I'm late to the Welcome Back party, Rain, but like all the previous blogger folks have commented, glad you are back to the blogger platform. I have a couple of Wordpress folks on my sidebar and it's always frustrating to have to sign in (and out) of that platform. Yes, spam is a continuing issue even on blogger, but I do flag every spam comment and report it to blogger. It's a chore to be sure, but no way will I let spam comments remain. I do not want to use comment moderation.

    1. Dorothy I use comment moderation lightly. I have it set to moderate after the post is 2 or 3 days old, I can't remember. I'm so happy to be on Blogger, it's so much easier to use! And thank you! I'm happy to be back! ♥

  14. Welcome back to Blogger, Rain. I am very sorry about your husband passing away. Please accept my condolences. I too, did not enjoy Word Press, which has a big learning curve that I didn’t want to bother with, so I understand exactly where you’re coming from. It’s great to see you back. 💕

  15. I have Wordpress and find it easy to use. They take care of everything including spam, etc. unfortunately, they charge me $96 plus tax per year. Wish it was free. But for me, it would be too much work to transfer to blogger. Blessings to you, Rain.

    1. Thanks Gigi ♥ I paid for a theme and it's easy enough to use, it's the WP platform, I didn't want to have to pay for support there, already the webhosting is crazy expensive. Blogger is more my style. I'm glad you find it easy to use!!
