Thursday Art and Dinner Date: πŸ‘€Bewitched πŸ‘€

Welcome my Friends, to Thursday Art and Dinner Date!

🎨For our 🎨 Art Date 🎨, today's optional prompt is Bewitched! Bugs Bunny specifically asked to pose for this prompt, he'll take any opportunity he can to dress up! For those who don't know, I took this idea from the 1970's tv show "Bewitched".

I was looking at images of the Bewitched intro with this artwork and I sketched approximately where I thought things should be. Then I erased and added Bugs to the drawing. I tried to keep Elizabeth Montgomery's shapely shape but I think Bugs has a bigger booty! 😁

I then uploaded the sketch to my graphics design tablet. I gussied Bugs up and added color and some magic dust with a digital splatter brush! And honestly, I don't think in this lifetime will I EVER be able to freehand draw a circle! My moon is slightly off! (I know, inner critic SHUSH)

Here's the theme song intro to the tv show. For those who watched the show, who was your favorite Darrin? I loved Dick York!

I also wanted to share this lovely bit of music. Ella Fitzgerald singing Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered on the Nat King Cole show in 1957. I absolutely love this song! She sings so beautifully!

For our dinner date, I made some spooky spuds and some petrifying peppers! I wanted to use my skull cakelet tin for something this Halloween, so I stuffed it with some yummy mashed potatoes. I ended up putting them under the broiler to add some color to them. I also baked some peppers, stuffed with a filling of orzo pasta, goat cheese, tomatoes, garlic and olive oil. Here is the recipe for that one, yum!

By the way, on my home page, I was able to add some tabs, and my recipe index is back up. I had to change all of the links, what a task, but it's all done now! If ever anyone notices a broken link to anything, will you let me know please? ♥

I dressed up my pumpkins very differently this year. The one on the left is my "Starry Night" pumpkin. After gutting it, I poked lots of holes of different sizes in the pumpkin and carved a few stars. I painted it with black acrylic paint and I just love it. The second one, I pulled out a chisel and carved around the bats instead of carving them out. I love this look too!

Here is the video I made for the stuffed peppers!

  1. Rain, I have happy memories of being sick in the mid and late 1970's and watching re-runs of Bewitched while I stayed home.

  3. Your clip reminds me of "Jeanie"! But the TV show I don´t know (living in Germany). Love your spooky food!
You use the word "broiler"! That is funny! I only learned it when the wall to East Germany fell - they called grilled chicken "Broiler"! Us Wessies at first had no clue! "You want ... what?!" Now everybody calls grilled chicken Broiler!
Oh, filled peppers is an option, of course! Ingo uses mushrooms, rice and LOADS of cheese.
Thank you for giving ml/celsius! My plates turned into covers?! (I really do have the lemos on plates!)

  6. Rain, I just harvested the last of my peppers the other day and you've given me an idea of what to do with them for dinner! Using shaped cake pans for mashed potatoes is a clever idea. And I love your pumpkins.

It's nice to see your YouTube channels growing. Good luck on your streaming art show!

    1. Thanks Leigh! ♥ Hope you enjoyed your peppers...I tried to grow them here once and they didn't grow more than an inch or two, the growing season it too short I think.

  9. I thought for a twinkle about doing Elizabeth Montgomery but went a different way completely. Your drawing is delightful and reminiscing of this old TV series brings back childhood feel-good vibes. That was a fun program. Your mashed potatoes and peppers are wonderful festive for the season. You're so talented! Thanks for hosting the fun, darlin' Rain. Have a doodletastic afternoon! xo

  10. Your Bewitched artwork is ULTRA FABULOUS! Two of my favourite things on TV when I was a kid were Bugs Bunny and Bewitched, so this is the perfect combination of the two! Plus I love your jack-o-lanterns, so creative (and spooky)!

  12. I liked Dick York too on Bewitched. I didn’t realize back then that they had made a change in the actors who played the characters, but I think that is true of a lot of people who didn’t realize until they were adults. πŸ˜‚ Bewitched is showing right now on the Facebook reels, so I’ve been watching it this week.

    1. LOL, it's so true Belinda, I don't remember the change either, but as an adult, I loved both "Dicks" but Dick York was my favorite!

  16. Hi, Rain! I'm so happy to see you back! I've fallen badly behind on my blogging, and I didn't get a post up yesterday. I'm overwhelmed (I think my ADHD is getting worse as I get older). I've just read through your new posts to catch up. I loved the photo of your pets that you posted on your first return post. Is Ali-Fay a new dog? Congrats on your new wood stove! Stacking 2 cords of wood is impressive! You are one determined lady! Your Thanksgiving feast looked scrumptious. You are one brave lady too! I loved the piece you did with Sylvester in the fog ~ The fog looks real. And I love this week's post. Your pumpkins and Sylvester are perfect. And your food is always inspiring. I have thought of you so many times, and I'm glad you're reclaiming your life on your terms and timetable. You are one smart lady too! Sending you love and best wishes and big hugs! ❤️πŸ€

    1. Louise! ♥♥♥ Thank you so much. You have been SO supportive during the last 6 months, so kind. When my baby Jack passed away in 2024, Raven was all alone, and I attempted to adopt ONE more dog (big laugh)...and came home with Benny, Lucy and Miley in March of 2024. Ali-Fay was there too and I'd have adopted her at that time too but someone already applied so I kind of let it go (even though she reminded me SO much of Jack). In June, I thought about her and called and she was back at the shelter so I adopted her then! ♥ It was meant to be!

  17. Hey Sis! A wonderful post with all the trimming for Halloween. I used to watch Bewitched everyday. It was so entertaining. I just bought some red and yellow bell peppers I think I will try this for dinner tonight. I'm sure you DON'T get any trick or treaters where you live but wishing you a happy Samhain.
